Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned.
I have committed the ultimate betrayal against my cholesterol level: a Krispy Kreme burger.
Known to many as the “Luther Vandross,” this Southern delicacy is simply a cheeseburger with plain glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme as a bun (we added bacon because why not?). We’ve been talking about making these for months now, but there’s always been a reason we couldn’t do it or we’d just forget. It’s been a busy year!
But finally, we had the perfect occasion for these treats. It’s Austin’s birthday weekend. If there were ever a reason to be total pigs, this is it.
So we fired up the grill, and got to cookin’. This isn’t really a recipe post. I mean, there’s not much to really explain. It’s simply:
- Fry bacon
- Throw burgers on the grill
- Heat up donuts on the grill & smush ’em a little
- Assemble burger
- Put in your mouth
It’s not rocket science. But you know what it is? Delicious. That’s what it is. I actually wasn’t sure I’d like it. The last time I had a Krispy Kreme donut was when I did the Krispy Kreme Challenge 5k. I thought for sure I’d never want one again after that.
I was wrong. So. Very. Wrong.
If you need me, I’ll be eating nothing but salad until my arteries forgive me.
