The beer worthy of it’s own post.
A new brewery opened up down the street at the beach, so naturally, we had to go check it out. While they’re getting ready to tap their own beer, Southern Swells Brewing Company has an awesome selection of craft brews from throughout Florida and more. Funky Buddha Brewery’s Red Velvet Cake immediately caught my eye. There’s a long history on this blog detailing my love of all things red velvet. Normally, I’d be skeptical of this type of confectionary-inspired beer. I’ve been scorned many times by artificial tasting brews that miss the mark.
But this one was different.
There was nothing artificial about it. It was smooth and distinctively red velvet, without going over the top, and still tasting like a beer. This particular beer is an English Red Ale infused with cocoa nibs and vanilla bean and is just absolutely delightful. Unfortunately, it was a limited edition and is only available on draught, so good luck finding it. If you happen to stumble upon it, I highly suggest giving it a try. It is the beer worthy of its own post, after all.
Psst: According to check-ins on Untappd, it looks like Alewife in Riverside has it!
