What I’ve Been Up To…

…. While I haven’t been blogging.

The past 3 months or so have been hectic, to say the least. My ex & I are now legally divorced & I’ve just been picking up the pieces & doing what I can to get my life back in order.

I know my last blog post was at the beginning of November & a significant amount has occurred in my life since then. While I usually don’t get too personal on this blog, seeing as it is a food blog, I’m thinking I want to change that. I struggle with Writer’s Block at times because I’ve tried to keep myself from getting personal. In the end though, I think my best writing comes from the heart & that’s what I’m going to do.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Usually I kick off the Race Season (aka The Most Wonderful Time of the Year) a little sooner than October 30, but hey, things are a little different this year.  This season, I’m once again doing the Thanksgiving Day Half (which is now the Subaru Distance Classic & it will be my 3rd year in a row), the Jax Bank Half & of course, The Gate River Run (also my 3rd year).

For the past two years, I’ve said I was going to run the Evergreen Pumpkin Run 10 Miler. Did I? No. This year, I decided it was finally time. I’ve been taking running a little more seriously the past few weeks & I felt like I was in a good spot to pull on some pink tights, a tutu & a tiara & get it done:

I Guess I Need to Get Serious

Contrary to the Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cake Batter Pancakes & Nutella S’mores I keep posting about, I actually do try to adhere to a healthy lifestyle bu eating mostly healthy & staying fit.

For the past three years, I’ve run the Outback Distance Classic on Thanksgiving Day. For the past two years, I’ve run the half marathon distance (a 6k/3.6 mile distance is also offered). I fully intend on doing the same this year as well.
