Tailgate Treats: Biscuits and Gravy

So… Who else is ready for breakfast tomorrow?

2014 has been an absolute rollercoaster of a year. With all the ups and downs, the time has flown by. It’s already late October, and this is by far my favorite time of the year. My life is consumed by half marathon training, football games, and gradually cooler weather (emphasis on “gradually”). The past two Jaguars home games, I’ve been so happy that the early mornings at the slab have required a jacket.

This past weekend’s cooler game day temperature inspired me to make a warm breakfast to have before engaging in circle ups and adult beverage consumption. At first, I considered a casserole, but I really wanted biscuits and gravy – warm, thick, spicy sausage gravy because yum. Instead of making individual biscuits, I chose to make a big ol’ Bisquick biscuit in a casserole dish and slather it in homemade sausage gravy. Win win.

When Duval Invaded London – Part 1

The past two weeks of my life have been absolutely insane. There’s no other way to describe it. My friend Colleen won the Jaguars Social League trip to London to see our beloved Jags play the 49ers. That was on the 17th. And then she generously asked me to tag along as her +1.

So on on Friday the 25th, we boarded a plane to London. Once we landed Saturday morning, we showered, took a quick nap and headed to the Pep Rally at Trafalgar Square.

Krispy Kreme Burgers

Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned.

Krispy Kreme Burgers

I have committed the ultimate betrayal against my cholesterol level: a Krispy Kreme burger.

Known to many as the “Luther Vandross,” this Southern delicacy is simply a cheeseburger with plain glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme as a bun (we added bacon because why not?). We’ve been talking about making these for months now, but there’s always been a reason we couldn’t do it or we’d just forget. It’s been a busy year!

{Friday Faves} 5 Favorite Things About Football Season

Game day is finally here, and I’m pretty stoked! Yes, it’s only the pre-season, but I’m excited to see my Jags. With that in mind, I figured I’d share my 5 Favorite Things About Football Season!

1) Beer – Duh. While I can be a craft beer snob at times, when it comes to tailgating, I’m not afraid to show my love with PBR. Or shot gun a beer. So classy. I’m sure my mother is so proud.

2) Tailgating – The food, the games, the socializing… I love it!

3) College Game Day – I’ve had a crush on Kirk Herbstreit since I was like 14. And as a Nole, I love Lee Corso! Even though I’m a Jaguars season ticket holder, I’m still a college football fan at heart. I love getting up on Saturday mornings, going for a long run, coming home and showering, and watching College Game Day.

4) Friends – I’ve made a lot of great friends because of football, and the Jaguars family is so awesome.

5) And of course, the game itself – It’s a love-hate relationship, but I’m a masochist.

How many of you were expecting me to say “Dudes in tight pants?” WELL I DIDN’T. So yeah.

Super Bowl Eats

In case you’ve been living under a rock, the Super Bowl is this weekend! And obviously, the Jaguars aren’t playing in it this year, but whatever. We’ll get there. Maybe. Hopefully. GO JAGS!

But this blog isn’t about football… It’s about food. So let’s talk about good football-watchin’ food.
