I dusted off my crock pot this weekend, y’all. I think I can say it’s officially fall. I no longer want to kill myself when I run outside, and tomorrow the high is 75. I could get used to this.
Naturally, the first thing I wanted to make the second the temperature dipped below boiling is chili. And since it’s OMGFALL and I’m a blogger eating ALL the pumpkin things, it was time to give pumpkin chili a shot. And Lord knows I love a good dump-it-all-in-the-crock-pot recipe… Especially on a Sunday after a horrendous failed long run.
Hey guys… Want to know a secret?
I am very easily bribed. Very easily.
Give me good food and good wine, and I will say tons of nice things about you. You could be Hitler and I would extol your virtues. Well, maybe not that far, but you get the drift.
The people at Seasons 52 had my number months ago – the first time I walked in the door actually. They plied me with great wine and excellent food, and I’ve been telling everyone I know how great they are ever since. And guess what? I’m about to do it again.
This craving has been going on for weeks. I don’t really eat red meat all that often, but every month or so, I’ll get an insane craving for a juicy cheeseburger or a mouthwatering steak. But this time? It was all about pot roast.
I ran 16 miles on Saturday. It was amazing and horrific all at once. We started at roughly 5:30 am because it’s still insanely hot in Florida. The first few miles were humid and sweaty, but there was definitely a shift in the weather. I actually think the humidity got better once the sun came up to burn it off. Even when we were finishing up just before 10 am, it wasn’t that bad outside. Fall is coming. I can feel it.
1) Pumpkin Anything
I know, total cliche food blogger to OMG LOVE ALL OF THE PUMPKIN THINGS. But I do. Not apologizing for it.
Duh. Y’all know I love my Seminoles, but the Jags also have a special spot in my heart. There’s nothing like a football game on a crisp fall day to invigorate you! Which leads perfectly into my next favorite thing about fall…
3) Fall Beers
I’m a sucker for seasonal beers, but fall is easily my favorite. The darker lagers totally rock my world, and Lord knows I love a good pumpkin ale.
4) Fall Fashion
Scarves, boots, and sweaters, oh my! Bundle and layer me up and I’m a happy girl.
5) Long Runs in Cool Weather
One of the things I hate most about summer in Florida is the heat combined with running. I hate the heat, so I chain myself to the treadmill until it cools off. I love being able to sleep in a little on Saturday (til like 8 am) then go for a long run, and get home in time to watch College Game Day on ESPN.
Honorable mention – Guinness Beef Stew
Because it’s awesome and delicious. Should there be any other reason?
How is it November already? Granted, I’m thrilled because that means cooler weather & the holidays approaching, but this year has FLOWN by. Surely I’m not the only one who feels that way. But really? How on earth is it time for Starbucks to be passing out the red cups?
