I don’t know about y’all, but I had an insanely productive weekend. I’m so proud of myself! I spent Saturday morning volunteering with the Pawfessionals at the Jacksonville Humane Society’s Mutt March.
I rearranged the furniture in my bedroom. I organized my closet. I cleaned. And cleaned. And cleaned some more. That’s what happens when I’m restless. I even ran a few miles. Yeah.
Cute story time.
Warning: I’m about to be that girl who brags about her awesome boyfriend.
I made these cookie bars the other day to take to a Super Bowl party. It was dark when I finished them, so I threw a lid on the Pyrex dish and left them on the counter until the next morning to photograph.
Fun fact: My all-time favorite cookie is the snickerdoodle. I know – it’s kind of surprising. I’m sure most would assume my favorite cookie would involve chocolate or bacon or red velvet (or any combination of the three). Alas, the chewy cinnamon-sugar infused bites of heaven are my ultimate. You really cannot go wrong with a snickerdoodle. If you don’t like them, you probably also don’t like puppies and kittens. So there’s that.
When I opened “New Post”, I had a completely different recipe in mind to write about. But the truth is… I’m in this mood where all I want to do is lay in bed, be lazy, and watch Gossip Girl. Yeah. I watched the entire first season over the weekend. I should be ashamed that I watched that much of it in such a short time period, but I’m not. For years I’ve heard about the awesomeness that is Gossip Girl, and I finally gave in. It’s helping me kill time before my favorite person gets home from deployment. A girl has to do something to distract herself, right?
Speaking of distraction, I’m distracted from my point: laziness (and cookies).
I KNOW. I said I was done with the pumpkin goodies, but obviously, I lied.
But there are good lies that really don’t count. Like when someone lies to you and tells you to be at a random place for a random reason and it turns out there’s actually a surprise party in your honor. That’s a good lie. This is just like that. Or something. Either way, it’s good. I promise.
I ran 16 miles on Saturday. It was amazing and horrific all at once. We started at roughly 5:30 am because it’s still insanely hot in Florida. The first few miles were humid and sweaty, but there was definitely a shift in the weather. I actually think the humidity got better once the sun came up to burn it off. Even when we were finishing up just before 10 am, it wasn’t that bad outside. Fall is coming. I can feel it.
