Disclaimer: Blah blah blah, Cabot sends me cheese and I make stuff with it and write about it. It’s a pretty sweet deal. I love cheese.
Um… Where did October go? Seriously. Wasn’t it just Labor Day? Not that I’m complaining… I’m happily enjoying the weather finally cooling off and having football to watch on most days of the week, which naturally makes me crave something warm and filling. And beer. It makes me crave beer too.
So when I got my Cabot Cheese Board box, I knew immediately it was going to turn into bacon beer cheese soup goodness!
My love for Guinness has been long documented across the internet.
Whenever I travel, I make it a point to have a Guinness. It’s interesting to see how different it tastes in different places (I also do this with McDonalds). Obviously, the best Guinness is in Ireland, and I was lucky enough to visit the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin a few years ago.
First things first, thanks to all of those who entered my Whole Foods Giveaway! Rachel H, you’re the lucky winner. You’ll be contacted at the email address you provided.
I may have mentioned this before, but I have a pretty awesome job. I’ve been there since February, and while it’s a lot of work, it’s also a lot of fun. A few weeks ago, some co-workers convinced me to cross the ditch and head over to Engine 15 Brewing Company. I know – it’s been open for ages, how have I not been there? I get questions like that all the time: “But you’re the Food Bitch! How have you not been there yet?” There’s a plethora of reasons: either time, money, distance, opportunity – I could go on. Trust me, I wish I could check so many places off my ever-growing list.
The other day I asked Austin his favorite kind of cake. In typical guy manner, he responded with some nonsense about how he didn’t really have a favorite (Mine is Red Velvet. Shocking, I know). How do you not have a favorite kind of cake? Seriously. I don’t get it. I understand that cake is amazing and it’s all just so good, but you have to have one kind that really does it for you more than the others. Whatever. Men. Anyway…
In my mission to make him the perfect birthday cupcakes, I wavered between Guinness Chocolate Stout Cupcakes and Bourbon Bacon Cupcakes and many ideas in between.
Once upon a time, I didn’t like beer. I know, that’s a little hard to believe if you’ve ever seen my Instagram feed. I remember the first times sipping beer in high school thinking it was gross. Then somewhere in college, I started drinking Natty Light and other frat party swill and eventually, I grew up and started drinking real beer. Good beer.
With that in mind, this week’s edition of Friday Faves is focusing on some of my favorite beers. This definitely isn’t the end all, be all totally 100% definite list, but I find myself consistently loving and ordering these beers.
Hello, Friday. It’s been a long week. The kinda week where you think to yourself, “I could use a drink” pretty much every night. I hate those weeks. If it wasn’t one thing, it was another. Car problems. Lots going on at work. Tired. Cranky. Unmotivated. Yeah. Not feeling it.
But at least it’s Friday. Come 3 o’clock, I’ll be Orlando-bound for a flight to San Francisco (yes, again). & when I get on that plane, you better believe I’ll be ordering a cocktail. But until then, I can just think about My 5 Favorite Drinks:
In case you didn’t know, I was kind of obsessed with Guinness last summer in Dublin. I remember in college, the boys would order Guiness & I’d be all “OMG EWW! GUINNESS IS GROSS!” Now? Yeah. It’s pretty much my favorite beer.
