Pinegrove Market & Deli

I’ve said it a million times before, but one of the things I love most about the Riverside/Avondale area of Jacksonville is the plethora of locally owned places to eat. I feel like I could go months trying a different establishment every time I dined out before having to repeat myself.

My latest visit was Avondale’s Pinegrove Market & Deli.

A small butcher’s shop at the corner of Post & Pinegrove, this place as pretty packed for a rainy Thursday lunch. I’ll admit, I was a little overwhelmed when I first walked in due to the expansive menu, but I quickly decided on a Blackened Chicken Caesar salad:

The lettuce was crisp, cool & fresh & the chicken was moist & juicy – so juicy I didn’t even need the dressing. The croutons were perfectly seasoned with salt, pepper & hint of garlic. I expected the chicken to have a little more kick since it was blackened, but overall it was fantastic.

& for food porn purposes, here’s Megan’s Reuben & Pasta salad:

Definitely a fan. I know next time I’ll be getting the grilled cheese & cup of soup!

  1. Oooh, you MUST try the cuban – it’s life-changing. Amazingly fresh meats and the bread is perfection. Love the small cuban and a side of tabouli. Any of the sandwiches with chicken salad are good too…love Da Stu, and Da Fritz. LOVE PINEGROVE! Such a nice family-owned business too.

  2. I know this is an old post but I am just reading old posts to pass the time! My Aunt and Uncle live right around the corner from here! My cousins take me every time I come to Jacksonville!
